Atlas Clarity was contracted to help a life science company explore the opportunities and the requirements needed to support the development of a care pathway for patients who are at risk for kidney disease, with a particular focus on elevating the role of genetic screening targeting the following biomarkers: non-muscle myosin heavy chain 9 (MYH9), steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome/APOL1, and autosomal dominant tubulointerstitial kidney disease. To facilitate this analysis, a landscape assessment was performed to identify any existing care pathways for kidney disease or those that relate to genetic screening for markers associated with kidney disease. This included examining work underway abroad in care pathway development/use, as well as examining whether any health care systems in the United States had a care pathway in place. In addition, Atlas Clarity examined potential co lead organizations that could help to develop a care pathway in the United States. As an output of this project, Atlas Clarity provided the client with a strategic approach for the development of a care pathway for kidney disease that incorporates genetic testing and a tactical research plan.
