Atlas Clarity LLC, in partnership with the Obesity Medicine Association and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, recently convened a vital national Stakeholders’ Dialogue focused on “Obesity and Nutrition Management in the Context of GLP-1”. This pivotal event brought together a diverse group, including people living with obesity, clinicians, payers, researchers, and policymakers, to collaboratively address the integration of nutrition support within comprehensive obesity care, particularly for individuals utilizing newer anti-obesity medications like GLP-1s. The discussions centered on developing actionable solutions to ensure patients receive holistic care that manages potential challenges, such as the loss of lean body mass while maximizing the benefits of these transformative therapies. The attached dialogue proceedings detail the rich insights and potential strategies identified during this critical conversation.

The Stakeholders’ Dialogue yielded several key themes essential for advancing obesity care. Participants emphasized the need to establish a comprehensive, multidisciplinary standard of care, strengthen care teams with experts such as Registered Dietitian Nutritionists, enhance provider and public education, advocate for crucial policy reforms, including improved coverage, and address health equity to ensure accessible treatment for all. Recognizing that effective obesity management requires more than medication alone, the insights gathered are foundational for a forthcoming Blueprint. This Blueprint, to be published by the co-hosting organizations in 2025, will provide a roadmap with actionable steps for improving access to integrated nutrition interventions and tackling fundamental challenges in obesity management.
